The All Star Fashion Weekend was held at the New Marriott Hotel May 22nd and May 23rd.   Mr. John Blassingame, president and CEO of New Day Associates, the publisher of Today’s Black Woman and Black Men Magazine and former publisher of Hype Hair.  He began his career with  Hearst Magazines, publisher of Cosmo, Good House, Harper’s Bazaar, Town and Country, Sports & Field, Road and Track. Mr. Blassingame was one of the first blacks ever hired. He also worked for Hudson County News.

In 1985, he created New Day Associates and some of the publishers excitedly jumped on board. Alongside of the Magazines, the company began producing four Fashion Shows each year featuring Models and Designers.  The Best Model is selected by an illustrious Judges Panel

As reported on Facebook by Bernard Bronner: Upscale Magazine was proud to help sponsor New Day Associate’s 42nd Annual International Model of the Year Competition. The competition showcased some of the brightest new designers and models on the scene today.

A national Legacy, John Blassingame has been in the "game" for a long time and can be attributed with to becoming a mogul in the media arena, ensuring that Blacks in the Fashion and Hair Industries not only had/have quality Magazines, but also Shows and Contests to enter, attend and be proud of as minorities.

We honor Mr. Blassingame for being an Entrepreneur, Trend Setter, Role Model and Inspiration for taking your Talent and not stopping until you Create a tangible dream which also benefits others.

We had a great time on Sunday, having been invited by our friend Allison Belmore whose daughter, Amaryllis modeled and read one of her beautiful poems.  This 10 year old young lady is going places!  Also met, Kurupt, the hip hop artist; cousin of Snoop Dogg and member of Death Row Records and a few other friends.

It was a fabulous Fashion Show and Showcase with Live Performances.  Inspirational and and proof, once again of how much Talent is out there and 42 years later, the Show still goes on.

Dare to Dream, Dare to Start and Dare to Keep Going.
