Summer Networking Nights In Southeast Queens, NY

The traditional Pop-Up Shape is ever changing and the Artist Market NYC is leading the way.  With several years of Pop-Up shops under their belt, they already partnered with the Queens Underground International Black and Brown Film Festival to offer up their Pop-Up style to the Red Carpet Film Festival days.

Also as a small entrepreneurial concern, the Artist Market NYC understands what small businesses are up against and more significantly, some of the issues and concerns of many minority owned and operated businesses, especially those that are mobile and/or online based.

Some of the issues have existed for decades, but it seems that the time is right to introduce Workshops to the Marketplace along with inviting other types of businesses to create a B2B learning, shopping and socializing gathering.

Along the lines of "Physician Heal Thyself", the hosts, Artist Market NYC and Yolaunda's Mini Mall with support of the Greater Jamaica Merchants Association and in conjunction with Queens Underground, we're positioning ourselves to help ourselves get to the root of the matter and begin to generate expansive changes.  During an earlier conversation with friend and colleague, Kamau Austin, publisher of several online news blogs, namely, the Southeast Queens Scoop, Kamau noted that perhaps we need to have a formal group where members take an Oath to establish standards and best practices for member businesses.  "What do you know," was all I could say and then added, "I already started writing it several years ago.  We have the same idea and your reminder is like a message from the universe letting us know that it's time."  The first workshop on Saturday, June 26th is Customer Service 101.  It's time for us to dissect -as a group - what the standards should be in all situations and to ensure our staff and volunteers are trained the same way.  Then we need to go deeper and list where the common stresses lie and how we alleviate them quickly - hence the importance of belonging to an organized group of people with many commonalities.  At the end of the day, we can't always blame outside factors, customer, other ethnic groups, etc., etc., we have to look to ourselves under a honest microscope, celebrate what's great, correct what isn't and take ownership to create what our dreams have called us to - in the best way possible in every aspect.

The collaborators are selling tickets already, registering Vendors and excited as to what the Artist Market NYC Summer Night Series can net for all types of Businesses and Organizations from all of the boroughs.  The pandemic, as sad and challenging as it has been, has offered that much needed downtime to pause, think and regroup.  Now we can build up our respective businesses to the standards they, we and customers deserve.
